Thinking Bloggers Awards

Just when I was thinking "I never win anything!" (after watching the final episodes of American Idol and Survivor), here comes an amazing award right into my lap!

The delicious Shelly Rae Rich, (currently and newly residing in New Yawk City) has honored me with

The Thinking Blogger Award

According to tradition, I must now shine a light on my own selection of thinking bloggers.

(Subparagraph B, Article I:
The recipient of this award must follow these rules:
Acknowledge the origin of the meme/award
If you are tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think
Optional: Display the “Thinking Blogger Award” with a link to the post that you wrote using either the gold or silver versions of the award.)

Without further ado, may I present (in random order),
Bev Jackson's Thinking Bloggers!

The incredibly talented and brilliant Carol Peters, poet, voracious reader, and the most astute thinker I know, Carol's blog is a source of wonder to me because her intelligence and literary tastes shine in every choice. (She was an editor for Ink Pot, when we were running the Lit Pot press and literary journal (1999 - 2005), and Carol and I traveled to Italy together last year. One of the smartest people I ever met.)

Sharon Hurlbut ,another spectacular poet, always makes me think. Her interests are many (she is an anthropologist, a knitter of many wondrous objects, and the mother of two adorable daughters) but it's the charming way she shares her life and work that always brings me back to her blog.

Beverly Carol Lucey, short story and essay writer extraordinaire, has just started a blog, but because she's a friend of ten years, I've followed all of her many literary websites and wouldn't miss her blog for the world. (Her other endeavors included "A Woman of a Certain Age," "The Language Wrangler," as well as a website about Ethics and another about Poodles!) She's a professor of English about to leave Arkansas and return to her beloved Massachusetts.

Barbara Klaser, mystery novelist, is also a thoughtful, deep and caring writer whose posts always incite my response. I love visiting her website called "Mystery of a Shrinking Violet." I've met Barbara in real life, and she's a gentle soul with enormous talent to spare.

Dennis Mehagin's wild and wacky website "4 Hour Hard On" is sheer unadultered fun. But between the belly laughs and cleverness, Dennis's brilliant mind shines through. Irreverant, honest and always surprising, I love Dennis's crazy views of life.

Congratulations, Thinking Bloggers! You're It!

Aw, thanks for the kind words -- and for the introduction to the other blogs.

I will have to think about this . . .

:)

Thanks Bev! I have to laugh, because staying at home to raise two kids, I sometimes whether I think at all anymore. Oh, I know I do. It's just a different kind of thinking. A bit more real-world than anthropology, that's for sure. I'm working on my list...

You are a sweetie pie. Just the thought of someone following what passes for my career, for (jeez TEN years?) is humbling.

Congratulations on your award!!!! Also, I like the "30 poems in 30 days" idea. Was it something created by a poetry group of yours, or a larger movement? I think this summer I am going to try that, since I have a break from teaching for 10 weeks.
