Kwame Dawes - Poetry reading at Malaprop's

I am such a lucky girl! One of the best bookstores in the country is six minutes from my house, and I get to listen to poetry from some of the best.

Today Kwame Dawes read (and sang!) from his two current books, "Wisteria" and "Impossible Flying." I cannot tell you how moving and brilliant he was. Wisteria is
based on interviews he did with a group of old women, as a project to read to the youngsters he counseled who had lost their way. A book of poems developed from it.
Mr. Dawes is intensely prolific, a poet, a writer, an actor, a professor, a jack of all trades. He is, in short, quite amazing.

Here's a Nicely Done blog I found that interviewed him: 5 Questions with Kwame Dawes

I'm still a little giddy from the experience. And I could grieve all I do not know and likely will not know in this lifetime.
