Malaprop's "Poetrio" reading - Sunday 11/4/07



IT HAPPENED~! And it was more fun than I could have imagined!! Thanks to all
the wonderful people who came to hear us read! I was thrilled!



Please join us at Malaprop's this Sunday, November 4 at 3pm for
Poetrio featuring Mark DeFoe, Beverly Jackson, and South Carolina Poet
Laureate, Marjorie Wentworth!

Mark DeFoe earned his BA and MA in English from Oklahoma State
University and then went on to earn his PhD at the University of
Denver. DeFoe began teaching literature and writing at West Virginia
Wesleyan in 1975 and is also assistant dean f the college. His poetry
has appeared in Paris Review, Yale Review, Christian Science Monitor,
Poetry International, Denver Quarterly Poetry, Kenyon Review and many
others. DeFoe lives with his wife, Jeanne, in Buckhannon, WV.

A native of Massachusetts, Marjorie Wentworth was educated at Mt.
Holyoke College and Oxford University and then received her M.A. in
English literature from New York University. Wentworth is South
Carolina's Poet Laureate as well as a two-time Pushcart Prize
nominee. Her poems have appeared in numerous publications and
collections. A resident of Sullivan's Island, Wentworth teaches
creative writing at The Charleston School of the Arts.

Beverly Jackson, a recent transplant from California, has poetry
and flash fiction in over sixty literary venues-- in print, online and
on the radio. Her flash "The Dead" was nominated for a BASS (Best
American Short Story) by Vestal Review. Jackson founded the e-zine,
Literary Potpourri, as well as the independent press, Lit Pot Press,
Inc. Beverly teaches a poetry class at the College for Seniors at
UNCA and paints mixed media abstracts.
